About us

The AchieveAbility National Network developed from the Aimhigher HEFCE funded Project that ran from July 2004 to July to 2006.

The Network strives to inform inclusive policy and practice for learners with SpLD. The approach of the Network is to look at whole organisational change in line with the social model of disability.

To further this the Network works closely with the HE Academy, Action on Access and our partners on a number of projects as outlined in our work.

In this section you can also find out more information about the HEFCE project, who was involved and what work was done as well as the creation of the Network.

Disability Context
Many people associate the term ‘disability’ with very specific groups of people – people in wheelchairs, people who are deaf or people who are blind. However, the true nature of disability is a much more complex issue and one in which our understanding is influenced by a number of factors such as legislation, the culture we live in, educational policy, or individual experience.    moremore

The project aimed to: raise awareness and understanding of the needs of students with SpLD across the educational sectors: to inspire and empower learners; and to research means to facilitate progression.    moremore
