Emma Course

Emma is a qualified swimming teacher who plans to go to university to finish her degree.
Emma can see words but cannot always understand them: “I have dyslexia but have learnt to read by changing the words into pictures I can recognise. I get fantastic support from my family and at College so my dyslexia it has not been a barrier to my education.”
The College provides Emma with a note-taker for lectures, a specialised tutor who transcribes her work, a voice activated system for her PC and software that can read back text from the PC screen. “My motivation comes from a willingness to succeed and to prove to everyone who felt I wouldn’t achieve, that they were wrong.” She says “If I can do it so can others, there is lots of support and help if you want it and it is helping me secure my future. As an Aim Higher Ambassador at the college Emma is also inspiring others to succeed.
