AchieveAbility has proven models for raising the aspirations of pre-HE learners as well as tools to assist them in attaining their goals.
Current initiatives for raising aspirations and empower learners to achieve include;
Ambassador Activities
The Ambassador Programme, developed during the AchieveAbility project lifespan, was so successful that activities based on this model are continuing in partner regions. The two largest initiatives of this type are in the South West and London Regions. In the South West the work is continuing in the Aimhigher LIFE partnership as part of their UCAN2 initiative.
In the London region AchieveAbility is working with Aimhigher LETG on a disability outreach programme funded by the Sir John Cass Foundation. For more information on this project see the Ambassador Activities page below.
Quintin Kynaston Extended Schools Project
The AchieveAbility Network has been working with Quintin Kynaston School over the past two years on a pilot project. Details about the project, the findings and plans for rolling out the model to other London extended schools can be found on the Quintin Kynaston Extended Schools Project page below.
Challenging Behaviours Project
This year the AchieveAbility Network has developed a pilot project in working with small groups of young people in young offenders institutions. Details about the project, the initial findings and future plans can be found on the Challenging Behaviours Project pages below.
Outreach Model
Through the duration of the project AchieveAbility have developed an outreach model that is continually evaluated and upgraded through expertise and findings from the projects undertaken by the Network and our partners. Consequently AchieveAbility is able to support organisations, areas and regions who have an interest in establishing SpLD appropriate outreach and mentoring schemes. If you would like further information about this please see the Outreach Model page below.
