Here in the Yorkshire and Humber Region we have been allocated a total of £7 million over 3 years to deliver our Aimhigher : P4P Strategic Plan across the four sub regions. Each sub region (North, South and West Yorkshire and Humberside) has developed and are delivering its own initiatives within a regionally co-ordinated framework. In this way activity will respond to local circumstances and local need in order to widen participation. This work is being taken forward by Sub Regional Co-ordinators.
Key objectives for the initiative in the Region include:
- Raising aspirations amongst groups with lower participation rates;
- Improving attainment at levels 2 and 3;
- Strengthening progression routes into HE from schools, FE and the workplace;
- Providing impartial HE guidance and information;
- Developing closer staff relationships between the sectors;
- Encouraging greater programme responsiveness in HE
- Building the capacity of institutions to reach and deliver to widening participation cohorts;
- Building appropriate partnerships to maximise the delivery of activity.
Yorkshire Universities is co-ordinating the initiative at regional level, through the Aimhigher : P4P Regional Manager, with the support of a Regional Steering Group representing the sub regions and key regional bodies and interests. Please view our web site for further information
