The University of the Arts and AchieveAbility
The University of the Arts is currently supporting the national Aimhigher AchieveAbility project. University of the Arts are supporting strand two of the project, which is an aspiration raising programme which aims to use Higher Education students with Specific Learning Difficulties as role models for year 12 SpLD students. The University of the Arts is supporting this strand of the project in the following ways:
- Current students from the University of the Arts are being recruited to participate in the project.
- The Young at Art team are assisting in this recruitment with the project office.
- The Young at Art team are also assisting in the organisation of the outreach work for the students and the planning of parents events.
The University of the Arts has been a valuable partner in the AchieveAbility project, due to the nature of the courses available at the Colleges, the University of the Arts has a large proportion of SpLD students. Therefore, there is a greater understanding of the conditions, and a huge enthusiasm from the students about the project.
