Arts Dyslexia Trust collaborates with AchieveAbility

The Arts Dyslexia Trust exists to support people and projects to develop visual thinkers in all occupations who are particularly disadvantaged through Dyslexia. The Trust is keen to work with AchieveAbility and the Lifelong Learning Networks to develop learning and teaching strategies to assist this group. AchieveAbility and the Arts Dyslexia Trust are to collaborate on the following areas of work:

• Research
• Information advice and guidance
• Continuous professional development
• Funding proposals for all of the above

Common aims and objectives

Aims:
• To plan, research and deliver accessible and inclusive education and training within the London and wider community in partnership with other like minded organisations
• To provide opportunities for workplace learning and to develop skills for successful employment.
• To capacity build on learning and teaching strategies for students with specific learning differences

Objectives
• Signposting course provision- IAG
• Flexible delivery at different learning levels
• Vocational learning that is underpinned by progression planning
• Supporting specialised vocational routes to learning
• Supporting the older learner for entry to HE
• Developing curriculum that is inclusive and accessible

''We learn language to begin with by listening to what is

being said. Sounds are organised according to their

relationship in time and so speech is therefore one-

dimensional.Written words can also only be understood

when read in one direction. Visual information, on the

other hand, is organised according to its relationship in

space. It is therefore three- dimensional. We can see an

object from different angles. This gives us very much

more information than can be conveyed by a name or

description of that object in words.''
