Sir Jim Rose review call for evidence

A website for teachers, parents, young people and others with an interest in dyslexia was launched on 15th July 2008 by Sir Jim Rose as part of his review into how children with dyslexia learn best.

Sir Jim Rose is asking for personal accounts and experiences as well as details of published research to help him develop recommendations to Ed Balls, Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families, on the identification and teaching of children with dyslexia/SpLD. The website will also contain regular updates and information about the review.

He will be publishing his recommendations early in 2009. To help him develop his recommendations, Sir Jim is looking at published research evidence on the impact of different interventions on the progression of children with dyslexia. In addition, he would find it very helpful if you are able to send him any of the following things:

  • Details of published research you would like him to consider
  • If you work in a school, or have worked in a school, your experience of what has helped children with dyslexia to make good progress, and what appears to have worked less well
  • If you are a parent or carer of a child with dyslexia, your experience of what has helped your child to make good progress, and what appears to have worked less well
  • If you are a child, young person or adult with dyslexia, your experience of what has helped you to make good progress, and what appears to have worked less well
  • Please send your responses to dyslexia.jimrose@dcsf.gsi.gov.uk by 10 October 2008

The DCSF has issued a press notice which tells people there is now a website supporting the work Jim Rose is doing on dyslexia, and that Jim is inviting people to send him their personal accounts and experiences on what works with improving outcomes and progression for children with dyslexia, as well as details of published research to help inform his development of recommendations. The DCSF Press Notice can be viewed on the DCSF website .

This is an excellent opportunity to be involved with an important piece of research, please visit Sir Jim Rose's website.
